The people of Agbo Malu MTN, Olorunda LCDA, received a major boost on Monday, August 25, 2025, as Honourable Engr. Setonji David, Deputy Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly, officially commenced the dredging of the community’s first-ever “virgin” canal.
The long-awaited project, which kicked off along the Badagry Expressway, is aimed at tackling flooding, improving drainage, and enhancing accessibility for residents of the area.
Speaking at the site, community leaders, including executives of the Community Development Association (CDA) and several landlords, lauded the lawmaker for making good on his promise. They described the intervention as timely and a clear demonstration of responsive leadership.
“This is a huge relief for us. For years, the absence of proper drainage has posed challenges to residents, but with this dredging, we are hopeful that life will be easier,” one of the CDA executives said.
Posu Davies, spokesperson for Hon. Setonji David, emphasized that the project marks a significant step in the lawmaker’s broader commitment to infrastructural development in Badagry Constituency 2. He assured residents that the dredging exercise would be carried out thoroughly and monitored closely to meet community expectations.
As the work progresses, residents expressed optimism that the initiative will not only curb perennial flooding but also open up the area for more socio-economic opportunities.
With this milestone, Hon. Setonji David continues to strengthen his reputation as a grassroots-focused legislator, bringing tangible development to his constituency.
