The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Ajose Peter Kumayon, has been declared Chairman-Elect of Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) following Saturday’s local government elections across Lagos State.
The result was announced by the Returning Officer for the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Mr. Adegboyega Samuel Oladiran, who confirmed that Kumayon—popularly known as APK—polled a total of 28,799 votes to clinch a resounding victory.
In sharp contrast, the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) candidate secured just 562 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which did not field a candidate for the chairmanship position, still managed to garner 470 votes—presumably from protest or loyal ballots.
The outcome further strengthens APC’s dominance in Lagos grassroots politics, particularly in the Badagry division. Supporters described Kumayon’s win as a reflection of the people’s trust in the party’s capacity to deliver on key issues such as infrastructure, youth empowerment, and local economic development.
Kumayon, a grassroots politician and long-time party loyalist, is expected to bring fresh energy and people-centered leadership to Olorunda LCDA.
As the dust settles from the election, political observers say all eyes will now be on how the new council boss translates this electoral mandate into meaningful development for the communities he now leads.
Badagry Today will continue to provide updates as the transition process unfolds.
