Lagos APC Chairman Ojelabi Lauds Onilude as Outgoing LG Boss Unveils Remodeled Badagry City Hall

It was a day woven with pride, tradition, and transformation as Hon. Segun Onilude, the outgoing Chairman of Badagry Local Government, unveiled the newly remodeled Badagry City Hall in a colourful ceremony that drew dignitaries, political stalwarts, and cultural icons from across Lagos State.

The event, which turned the ancient town into a vibrant hub of celebration, saw Lagos State APC Chairman, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, represented by the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Sule, commend Onilude for his visionary leadership and legacy of development.

“The progress in Badagry reflects on all of us in the division because the name is our identity,” Hon. Sule said while delivering Ojelabi’s message. “A leader who truly values his people strives to leave behind a lasting impact. From the legacy administrative building to the shopping plaza at Badagry Roundabout and now this beautifully remodeled City Hall, Hon. Onilude has delivered on his promises. He deserves every accolade he’s receiving today.”

The remodeled City Hall, a symbol of resilience and renewal, now stands as a modern civic landmark—an architectural reflection of a community determined to rise with pride. Traditional rulers, political officeholders, councillors, and citizens turned out in large numbers to honour the outgoing chairman, who many described as one of the most impactful leaders in the history of Badagry.

With cultural troupes dancing and women’s choruses filling the air with joyful songs, the celebration embodied the town’s rich heritage and communal spirit. Dignitaries and residents alike were moved by the atmosphere—an elegant blend of tradition and progress.

In his remarks, Hon. Onilude expressed gratitude and fulfillment:
“As I prepare to leave office, I do so with immense pride in what we have achieved together. When I assumed office, I had dreams for our people—and today, I stand before you with those dreams now realized through collective effort, divine guidance, and your support.”

Highlighting his administration’s achievements, Onilude reeled out landmark projects including the Kiki Whenu Shopping Plaza, the Owolabani Arcade, the Customary Court, and the Badagry Area Office. He also listed completed road projects like the Sunny-Ajose-Togbe Road, Agric-Seje-Isalu Road, and Dansu-Cinema Road.

The event wasn’t just a formal unveiling—it was a tribute to service and leadership. In recognition of their dedication, Onilude honoured his aides, political appointees, councillors, and outstanding management staff with appreciation gifts.

In an emotional twist, the management staff surprised the outgoing chairman with a car gift, a symbolic gesture of gratitude for his trailblazing tenure and unwavering commitment to Badagry’s development.

From speeches to smiles, and from songs to standing ovations, the unveiling of the remodeled City Hall stood as a powerful reminder: with vision and unity, a community can indeed reclaim its shine.
