Former Minister of Interior and current National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, on Monday, held a closed-door meeting with the 2023 Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.
The meeting took place at Rhodes-Vivour’s Lagos residence, sparking speculations about possible political realignments ahead of future elections in the state.
Although details of their discussions remain undisclosed, the private engagement has drawn attention within political circles, particularly due to Aregbesola’s recent emergence as a top figure in the ADC and his increasing presence in Lagos State’s political affairs.
Rhodes-Vivour, who came second in the fiercely contested 2023 governorship race, remains a prominent youth figure and voice within the opposition in Lagos. Aregbesola, a former Osun State governor and influential politician in the South-West, has in recent months distanced himself from his longtime political base in the All Progressives Congress (APC), fueling talk of a broader political shift.
Neither party has issued an official statement regarding the outcome of the meeting as of press time.
Observers believe the dialogue could signal new alliances or strategic moves as preparations quietly begin for the next election cycle in Lagos State.
