As momentum builds ahead of the July 12 local government elections in Lagos State, key figures of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Badagry Division convened earlier today at Iyana Isashi for a high-level stakeholders’ meeting aimed at deepening internal unity and ensuring electoral success at the grassroots.
The meeting, held under the banner of Lagos West Senatorial District II, brought together frontline party leaders and candidates from across the Badagry Division in what was described as a crucial intervention to reinforce peace, discipline, and cooperation within the APC ranks.
Among the leading figures in attendance were Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, the APC Chairmanship candidate for Badagry Local Government; and Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon (popularly known as APK), the party’s flagbearer for Olorunda LCDA.
The event drew the presence of several high-ranking APC stalwarts, including Senator Idiat Adebule, representing Lagos West in the National Assembly; Hon. Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the Lagos State APC Chairman; Elder Oluwa, the respected apex leader of Lagos West; Hon. Bonu Saanu and Hon. Setonji David, both members of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Badagry Constituencies 1 and 2 respectively. Also in attendance were state commissioners, council chairmen, LGA party chairmen, and a host of chairmanship and councillorship candidates from across the division.
Discussions at the closed-door session centered on consolidating the party’s strength, resolving internal grievances, and strategizing towards a landslide APC victory in the forthcoming polls. Leaders at the meeting reiterated the importance of a united front, urging party loyalists to prioritize peace and party supremacy over personal interests.
Reacting after the meeting, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, speaking through his media team, described the gathering as “an inspiring and timely step” that underscores the APC’s readiness to approach the local government elections with cohesion, strategy, and purpose.
“The party’s commitment to peace and collective victory is not in doubt. This meeting shows that we are all aligned in vision and purpose,” Kumayon stated.
As political activities intensify across the state, today’s meeting signals the APC’s resolve to not only maintain dominance in Badagry Division but also to present a unified and coordinated front in what is expected to be a competitive electoral outing.
