As the countdown to the July 12 Local Government Elections in Lagos intensifies, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship Candidate for Olorunda LCDA, has unveiled a bold and transformative six-point agenda aimed at driving inclusive development and improving the quality of life for residents of the area.
In a detailed breakdown of his vision, Hon. Kumayon pledged to prioritize key sectors such as agriculture, education, healthcare, rural development, youth empowerment, and staff welfare — a roadmap he believes will usher in a new era of progress for the people of Olorunda.
1. Agriculture: Boosting Local Food Security
Recognizing the urgent need to support farmers and strengthen the local economy, Kumayon promised to provide essential agricultural tools, access to soft loans, quality seedlings, and storage facilities. According to him, these measures will not only boost food production and preservation but also enhance the livelihoods of local farmers.
2. Education: Building a Brighter Future
On education, Kumayon is committing to making learning more accessible and inclusive. His plans include the provision of free school transport, improved school infrastructure, learning materials, digital access, as well as scholarships and bursaries for indigent students.
“Our children deserve access to quality education regardless of their background,” he said. “We will remove barriers that hinder learning and create opportunities for every child to thrive.”
3. Health Care Services: Bringing Care Closer to the People
Hon. Kumayon also outlined his commitment to revitalizing the healthcare system within Olorunda LCDA. This includes the rehabilitation of existing health centers, construction of new facilities, regular supply of essential drugs, and the provision of free healthcare services for the elderly, pregnant women, and children.
“No community can progress without access to quality healthcare. This will be a top priority under my administration,” he emphasized.
4. Rural Development: Infrastructure That Works for All
Promising a community-driven approach, Kumayon said his administration would engage residents through broad consultations and ensure transparent governance. Rural development projects such as road construction, water supply, electrification, and job creation would be rolled out to meet the immediate needs of various communities.
“We want every ward in Olorunda to feel the impact of government — not just on paper, but in tangible, visible ways,” he stated.
5. Youth Development & Empowerment: Skills for a Better Tomorrow
With youth unemployment on the rise, Kumayon is placing a strong focus on empowerment. He plans to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to provide vocational training, apprenticeships, and sustainable livelihood programs for both young people and women.
“Our youth need more than promises — they need skills, support, and opportunities to succeed,” he added.
6. Staff Welfare: Motivating the Workforce
In a move likely to be welcomed by civil servants, Kumayon pledged to ensure the prompt payment of salaries, access to staff loans, regular training, and the provision of essential work tools to enhance productivity and service delivery.
“A motivated workforce is the backbone of effective governance. We will treat our staff with dignity and equip them to serve the public better,” he concluded.
As Olorunda heads to the polls, Hon. Kumayon’s agenda offers a hopeful and pragmatic blueprint for local governance. His message is clear: a vote for him is a vote for development, empowerment, and a brighter future for all.
