Every business institution strives to achieve one thing - the ability to win the loyalty of its customers. This is achieved through keeping to its words.
In addition to this, every business has its Unique Selling Point (USP). USP is the ability of the business to identify and create its strongest point above its competitors. This uniqueness focuses more on the customers' satisfaction !
However, in every parameter and metric of measuring business proficiency, EKEDC Agbara District has failed absolutely and woefully. I am yet to see a business handling a sector as sensitive as the Electricity sector being lackluster in this way.
A simple parameter such as keeping to its simple promise to its consumers has become a herculean task. In February 2025, the district claimed to embark on upgrade of its Transmission substation from 2×45 MVA to 2×100 MVA and as a result would result in load shedding. This implies that the epileptic supply would become further pronounced than it used to be. Consequent upon that, regular supply shouldn't't be expected. But a notice was issued and that full restoration would resume in April 25, 2025. By then, all the affected areas would start to enjoy minimum power supply of 20 hours a day.
As at the writing of this piece, it was June 18, 2025 and the situation has been aggravated further. A total failure of promise ! A customer-oriented company should commit a suicide through liquidation if this occur because it simply shows the company is not consumer-oriented.
We have witnessed prior notices from banks for service interruption and they would restore the service at the promised time. This is not with EKEDC Agbara/Badagry District.
They are worse than leprosy and shouldn't have existed at all. A leper is isolated and is not expected to stay amongst normal people. This is the case with the district. A simple promise to the customers cannot be kept and I don't think they should exist.
We prefer Ikeja Distribution Company. They are far better. If other players come into the business, EKEDC would be forced to exit because it lacks capacity to deliver.
I am Posu, Joseph Sewanu.
