Sanwo-Olu to Swear In 57 Elected Council Chairmen on Sunday

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is set to officially swear in the newly elected chairmen of the 57 local government areas and local council development areas (LCDAs) across the state.

The swearing-in ceremony has been scheduled for Sunday, July 27, 2025, and will take place at the Lagos House, Governor's Office, Alausa, Ikeja. The event is expected to begin at 12:00 noon.

This development follows the recently concluded local government elections, where residents across the state trooped out to elect leaders for their various councils.

With preparations in full swing, the ceremony is expected to be a formal yet symbolic event, ushering in a fresh term of grassroots leadership. Governor Sanwo-Olu is expected to charge the incoming chairmen to prioritize service delivery, transparency, and development in their respective councils.

The incoming chairmen will assume office immediately after the swearing-in, marking the beginning of a new administrative cycle at the local level.

Residents and stakeholders are already expressing hope that the new set of leaders will bring renewed energy and commitment to governance, especially in areas like infrastructure, sanitation, health, education, and local economic development.
