BREAKING: Sanwo-Olu Approves Nine Transformers for Badagry West Re-Electrification

Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has approved the immediate release of nine brand-new transformers for the area in a significant boost to the ongoing re-electrification drive in Badagry West Local Council Development Area (LCDA)

The welcome development was disclosed by Hon. Solomon Saanu Bonu, the lawmaker representing Badagry Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, in a public Facebook update on Sunday.

According to Hon. Bonu, the approval is the result of continuous engagement with the governor over the lingering electricity challenges faced by communities in Badagry West. The newly approved transformers are expected to complement existing facilities and will be deployed to critical locations across the LCDA within days.

“Dear Constituents of Badagry West,
#LetThereBeLightInWest
I am thrilled to announce another significant achievement in our efforts to restore electricity to our communities! Our engagement with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has yielded a positive outcome, as he has approved nine (9) brand-new transformers to supplement the existing ones,” Bonu shared.

He went on to express gratitude to the governor on behalf of the constituents, urging the people of Badagry West to unite in appreciation for the administration’s intervention.

“Let us join forces to express our sincere appreciation to Governor Sanwo-Olu for his commitment to illuminating Badagry West. Thank you, Mr. Governor, for your efforts in bringing light to our communities,” the lawmaker added.

For years, the entire communities in Badagry West have been plunged into darkness due to outdated infrastructure and damaged power lines. The lack of stable electricity has affected livelihoods, security, education, and general quality of life in the area.

The approval of these transformers marks a turning point in the ongoing struggle for power restoration, and residents are hopeful that this will pave the way for stable electricity supply across the affected zones.

Many residents have taken to social media to celebrate the announcement, describing it as “timely,” “long overdue,” and “a huge relief.” Community leaders and stakeholders have also commended the state government and Hon. Bonu for keeping the issue on the front burner.

As Lagos State moves towards a more inclusive development agenda, this gesture is seen as a strong signal that underserved communities like Badagry West are finally getting the attention they deserve.

Deployment of the transformers is expected to begin within days, and local authorities are already working on the ground to coordinate logistics and ensure that the installations are carried out without delay.

With this approval, the light at the end of the tunnel for Badagry West is no longer just a promise—it is becoming a reality.
