The All Progressives Congress has formally unveiled a new National Working Committee following the successful conclusion of its 8th National Convention held in Abuja.
At the convention, which took place at the iconic Eagle Square, party delegates reaffirmed Nentawe Yilwatda as National Chairman, alongside the emergence of Ajibola Basiru as National Secretary. The leadership selection was largely achieved through a consensus arrangement endorsed by key stakeholders within the party.
In a notable development, Ben Nwoye was named Deputy National Chairman (South), replacing Emma Eneukwu. Party insiders revealed that the decision followed extensive consultations and zoning considerations, with Peter Mbah reportedly playing a key role in facilitating Nwoye’s emergence.
Delivering his acceptance speech, Yilwatda described his re-election as a renewed call to service, pledging to foster unity and strengthen the ruling party’s internal cohesion.
“We are ready to serve, ready to lead, and we are ready to build the party together with the nation,” he said, assuring members that the new leadership would not fail in its mandate.
The high-profile event was attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, governors, lawmakers, and other prominent figures within the party.
