The APC Youth League has formally endorsed the governorship ambition of Dr Samuel Mawuyon Ajose ahead of the 2027 Lagos State election, describing him as the most credible candidate to secure victory for the ruling party.
Addressing journalists in Abuja on Saturday, the National President of the group, Alhaji Musa Mohammed, said the time has come to correct what he described as a longstanding imbalance in Lagos politics by zoning the governorship to Badagry Division.
He noted that while other divisions within the IBILE structure have produced governors at different times, Badagry, despite its historical and economic significance, has never produced a governor since the creation of Lagos State.
According to the youth body, supporting a capable and competent Badagry indigene like Ajose would not only address this imbalance but also strengthen unity and inclusiveness across the state.
Badagry, they said, has played a major historical, economic and cultural role in the development of Lagos and Nigeria, yet has remained politically sidelined at the highest level.
The group described Ajose as an accomplished entrepreneur and philanthropist with strong grassroots appeal, pointing to his track record in infrastructure, real estate and construction as proof of his capacity to manage large scale projects and drive economic growth.
They also highlighted his humanitarian efforts, including scholarship programmes, community empowerment initiatives and support for vulnerable families across several communities.
Beyond his business success, the APC Youth League said Ajose has demonstrated a strong commitment to youth empowerment and economic development, with a clear vision centred on job creation, tourism development, technology innovation, skills acquisition and infrastructure expansion.
The group added that his leadership style reflects the progressive governance philosophy that has shaped Lagos State over the years, positioning him as a natural successor to sustain and advance the state’s development trajectory.
They expressed confidence that Ajose has the political structure, credibility and popularity required to mobilise support across all five divisions of Lagos State and deliver victory for the All Progressives Congress in 2027.
The organisation therefore called on party leaders, delegates and stakeholders to rally behind his aspiration in the interest of fairness, unity and electoral success.
They maintained that the call for a Badagry governor goes beyond geography, stressing that it is about justice, inclusion and political balance, adding that Ajose represents the best opportunity for the party to correct history and win convincingly in the next governorship election.
