A University of Lagos undergraduate and beneficiary of the scholarship programme of Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, Member of the House of Representatives for Badagry Federal Constituency, has written a heartfelt letter of appreciation to the lawmaker following the payment of his first year school fees.
The beneficiary, Master Bello Jesufolahan Elijah, a 17 year old resident of Badagry, confirmed that the sum of ₦330,000 covering his first year tuition at the University of Lagos was fully paid through the scholarship support of the federal lawmaker.
Jesufolahan was listed among several outstanding youths from Badagry who benefitted from Hon. Whingan’s full university scholarship initiative, designed to reward academic excellence and ease the burden of higher education for brilliant but indigent students across the constituency.
The young scholar distinguished himself in the 2024 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, where he emerged the overall best candidate in Badagry Federal Constituency with an exceptional score of 362. His performance earned him the scholarship award and paved the way for his admission into the University of Lagos to study Computer Science.
Now a first year undergraduate at UNILAG, Jesufolahan is described as a passionate tech enthusiast with strong ambitions in innovation and problem solving. He has expressed his desire to develop technological solutions that will contribute meaningfully to national development and global progress.
In his letter of appreciation seen by Badagry Today to the lawmaker, Jesufolahan acknowledged that the gesture had lifted a major financial burden off his family and strengthened his resolve to remain focused and disciplined in his academic pursuit. He assured Hon. Whingan that the opportunity would be put to good use and remembered as a defining support in his educational journey.
The scholarship intervention by Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan continues to draw commendation across Badagry, with many residents describing it as a clear demonstration of purposeful representation and a long term investment in the future of the constituency through education.
