There’s been a major shake-up in the political leadership of Agege Local Government as Ganiu Obasa, son of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has been sworn in as the substantive Chairman of the council.

His emergence follows the resignation of the former chairman, Mr. Tunde Azeez, popularly known as “Disco,” who stepped down citing health challenges. Azeez had been on medical leave for several weeks before formally tendering his resignation to the council.

Before his confirmation, Ganiu Obasa had served as Acting Chairman, effectively overseeing council affairs. His formal swearing-in now completes the leadership transition within the local government.

According to reliable sources, Azeez’s resignation was processed and accepted in line with established administrative procedures, clearing the way for his deputy to take full charge in accordance with local government laws.

Meanwhile, reactions among residents have been mixed. While some commend the smooth transition and express optimism about continuity, others have urged the new chairman to prioritize ongoing projects and build on the foundations laid by his predecessor.
