The energy in Lagos is buzzing as Mathew Ayomide, popularly known as City Boy, kicks off a daring and passionate journey — a bicycle ride from Seme Border in Badagry to Omole Estate, Ikeja, in honour of one of Nigeria’s greatest Fuji icons, Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, fondly called Oganla of Fuji.
The thrilling challenge, tagged “Present Stand Up for the Champion — Alhaji Pasuma Oganla of Fuji,” began on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Seme Border, symbolizing resilience, loyalty, and unwavering admiration for the Fuji maestro whose music has shaped generations.
The City Boy’s extraordinary bicycle marathon has drawn massive attention on social media, with fans and Fuji lovers celebrating his commitment and courage. Many described his effort as “the true spirit of love and loyalty” towards Pasuma.
Speaking to some excited fans online, several praised City Boy’s gesture, saying it reflects the deep emotional connection between Pasuma and his followers.
“We’re proud of City Boy! His energy and love for Oganla is unmatched,” said a fan from Badagry. “We can’t wait to receive him at Omole — Pasuma deserves this honour.”
As of Sunday, November 2, 2025, updates reaching our newsroom reveal that City Boy has made steady progress and was sighted around Iyana Iba–LASU area of Lagos around 2:41 p.m., pedaling strong despite fatigue and distance.
The marathon rider, known for his adventurous stunts and passion for celebrating Nigerian music stars, says his mission is to “show love and celebrate living legends while they are still here.”
