Two men, identified as 40-year-old Mamud Abubakar and 49-year-old Iskinu Seriki, have been arraigned before the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing livestock valued at ₦75 million.
The duo are facing charges of conspiracy and theft over the disappearance of 43 cows and nine rams said to have been stolen between August 2024 and October 3, 2025, in Povita community, Badagry.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Ajanaude Yenido, told the court that the suspects were arrested after a string of livestock thefts in the area and subsequently charged to court. He noted that the offences contravene Sections 168 and 411 of the Lagos State Criminal Code Law, 2015.
Chief Magistrate A.J. Aina granted the defendants bail with two sureties each, one of whom must be a recognized community leader.
The case was adjourned till November 3, 2025, for mention.
