Two Immigration officers have lost their lives following an attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents in Monguno, Borno State.
The assault reportedly occurred last Thursday but only came to light days later due to poor telecommunication in the area. Monguno, located about 136 kilometers from Maiduguri, sits in the heart of Northern Borno Senatorial District.
According to sources, troops quickly moved in and repelled the attackers, though the number of casualties on the insurgents’ side remains unclear.
A military source confirmed on Saturday that the bodies of the slain officers have been recovered and deposited in a hospital morgue. Their families have since been notified of the tragic incident.
