The family of 29-year-old interior designer, Deborah Eneyi Okwori, fondly known as Deb’rah Porsche, has shared the heartbreaking account of how her promising life was brutally ended in her Ogba apartment by her ex-lover, Ugali “Lintez.”
According to her elder sister, Hope, the suspect had refused to let go since their relationship ended over a year ago. He allegedly stalked Deborah using multiple phone numbers and fake social media accounts, bombarding her with calls and threats.
“He even pretended to be sick at one point, sending photos from a hospital bed to lure her back. My sister blocked him everywhere, but he always came back,” Hope said.
On the evening of the incident, Hope explained, the suspect disguised himself as a dispatch rider to gain entry into Deborah’s estate. Alone at home, she had only locked the net door after her sisters left for work.
Investigators believe he first cut the gas pipe outside the kitchen, hoping to cause an explosion. When that failed, he forced his way in and launched a vicious assault, stabbing Deborah several times in the back and chest.
Neighbors who heard her screams rushed in to find her lying in a pool of blood. The suspect, however, pretended to be unconscious, later claiming Deborah stabbed him in a fight — but witnesses confirmed there was no injury on him.
Doctors at the hospital later confirmed her death, saying one of the stab wounds to her back had pierced her lungs.
Hope disclosed that earlier that same morning, the suspect’s mother had placed a call to Deborah. “We don’t know why she called, only for this to happen hours later. Even his family knows the kind of son they raised,” she said.
The family also discovered that Deborah was not his first victim of obsession. His former girlfriend reportedly had to relocate because of his threats.
“He once told my sister that if he didn’t marry her, blood would flow. We thought he was joking. Now he has fulfilled that threat,” Hope added.
Described as hardworking, easygoing, and ambitious, Deborah was on the verge of a breakthrough in her career. She had just secured her first ₦13 million interior design contract and was about to sign another deal. She was also supporting her siblings after their mother’s retirement.
“She had so many dreams ahead of her, but he cut her life short,” Hope said in tears.
The grieving family is calling for a thorough investigation, insisting that the killing was premeditated and the suspect must face justice.
Confirming the case, the Lagos State Police Command stated that detectives have visited the crime scene. Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Babaseyi B. Oluseyi, said the investigation has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, for further action.
