Contrary to earlier reports making the round, the Presidency has denied that President Bola Tinubu has sacked or directed the group chief executive officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mr. Bayo Ojulari to resign.
Earlier reports alleged that Ojulari was detained on Friday and coerced into signing a resignation letter by the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, and the Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS), Adeola Ajayi.

However, in a fresh report according to The Witness, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has dismissed the sack report as false and unfounded.
Ojulari was appointed by President Tinubu as the chief executive of the national oil company in April 2025.
