Popular Lagos politician and businessman, Otunba Segun Adewale, widely known as Aeroland, has cleared the air over rumours circulating on social media that he has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The viral posts claimed that Aeroland had not only defected to the ruling party but was also being lined up for a major political ticket—either the Lagos West Senatorial seat or a seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
However, an investigation by Badagry Today has confirmed that the report is false.
Speaking through a close ally who chose anonymous, Otunba Adewale denied the defection story. The ally shared a personal statement from the philanthropist, in which he made it clear that he remains a loyal member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), though he is currently on a short break from active politics.
His words:
“I have not decamped to APC. I am still a member of the PDP. I have taken a break from politics and facing my aviation business. I will let Nigerians know my next political move, but not anytime soon.”
Otunba Segun Adewale, a household name in Lagos politics, was the PDP senatorial candidate for Lagos West in the 2023 elections and is regarded as one of the strongest PDP figures in Alimosho Local Government. He also contested for governor of Ekiti State under the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in 2018.
Known for his grassroots connection and philanthropic work, especially in Lagos and Ekiti States, Aeroland has remained a consistent voice in opposition politics. His recent silence, however, sparked speculation that he may be aligning with the ruling APC—but his latest statement has put that to rest.
For now, Otunba Adewale says his focus is on growing his aviation business, but hints that he will return to politics when the time is right.
