Former Minister Audu Ogbeh Dies

Nigeria has lost one of its seasoned statesmen as Chief Audu Ogbeh, former Minister of Agriculture and one-time National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), passed away on Saturday, August 9, at the age of 78.

Ogbeh, who served as PDP chairman from 2001 to 2005 and was Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development between 2015 and 2019 under the administration of late former President Muhammadu Buhari, was widely respected for his integrity, dedication, and decades of service to the nation.

In a statement announcing his passing, the family said:

“He departed peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, service, and dedication to our nation and community. We are comforted by the many lives he touched and the examples he set. Details of the funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course. We thank friends, colleagues, and well-wishers for their prayers and support during this time, and we will appreciate some privacy while we mourn the loss of our patriarch.”

Chief Audu Ogbeh’s political career spanned several decades, marked by leadership roles, agricultural advocacy, and a commitment to national development. His death marks the end of an era for many in Nigeria’s political and agricultural sectors.
