In a ceremony filled with excitement, gratitude, and high expectations, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon (popularly known as APK) was officially sworn in on Sunday, July 27, 2025, as the 4th Executive Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State.
The event, which held at Mowo Junior Secondary School, Osun-Egbado, Mowo, drew a large crowd of political leaders, traditional rulers, religious figures, party faithful, youths, and community members — all united in hope for a new era of progress in Olorunda.
Standing before the cheering crowd, Chairman Kumayon delivered a heartfelt inaugural speech that struck a chord with many. He began by thanking God and expressing deep gratitude to the people of Olorunda for the trust they had placed in him.
“This is not just a victory for me,” APK said, “It is a win for all of us — a new chapter for our LCDA. I am humbled, honored, and ready to serve.”
He paid glowing tributes to past chairmen of the LCDA — including Hon. (HRM) Oba Abraham Ogabi, Hon. Abudu Amida, Hon. Akinyemi Ajayi, Hon. Solomon Adele, and his immediate predecessor, Hon. Samson Olatunde — acknowledging their roles in laying the solid foundation on which his administration hopes to build.
APK also saluted national and state leaders, giving special recognition to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for shaping modern democracy in Nigeria, and Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his focus on grassroots development.
He extended appreciation to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its leadership, especially State Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, for the support that led to his emergence.
Calling for unity and collaboration, the new chairman urged all residents to put aside political differences and come together for the good of the LCDA.
“The elections are over. Now is the time to build — not as opponents, but as partners. There is no loser here; we are all winners. And we must move forward together,” he stated.
In his message to the community, Hon. Kumayon emphasized his commitment to running an inclusive, accountable, and transparent government that will prioritize the needs of the people.
“I do not claim that the road ahead will be easy,” he said. “But with God on our side, and your continued support, we will overcome every challenge. My administration will always be accessible and open. We will not betray your trust.”
He called on traditional rulers, community development associations, market leaders, youths, professionals, and civil society groups to support his government in achieving the dreams of a better Olorunda.
As the event closed, the atmosphere was filled with renewed hope and optimism for what lies ahead under APK’s leadership.
“Let us rise together, work together, and prosper together,” he concluded.
With that, a new chapter has officially begun for Olorunda LCDA — one led by a man who promises to serve with vision, unity, and a deep commitment to progress.
