In a chilling development that has sent shockwaves through the Badagry community, a young welder, Jamiu Ishola, who was declared missing since Monday has been reportedly murdered and his remains allegedly taken away by a prime suspect currently on the run.
The victim, a resident of Ikoga Zebbe, was last seen on Monday, June 16, 2025, after leaving his workshop in Mowo on a ladies’ motorcycle, heading out for what was supposed to be a regular workday. He never returned home.
After days of frantic search by family and community members, disturbing details began to emerge over the weekend. Jamiu's personal belongings — including his motorcycle (okada), mobile phone, clothing, and keys — were found in an uncompleted building located in the Topo-Idale area of Badagry.
A breakthrough came when a man, identified only as “Aboki”, was arrested at the scene by the police. According to a source close to the investigation who spoke to Badagry Today under condition of anonymity, the arrested suspect confessed that Jamiu had been killed by an individual known as “Ifa”, who is currently at large.
“He said Ifa killed the boy and took his body away. The Aboki man was caught with all Jamiu's items in the uncompleted building. He didn’t deny being involved,” the source revealed.
The suspect, Aboki, has since been taken into custody at Morogbo Police Station, where he is reportedly assisting with the investigation. Efforts are now underway to track and apprehend Ifa, the alleged mastermind behind the gruesome murder.
As of the time of this report, Jamiu Ishola’s body has not yet been found, and the Lagos State Police Command is yet to officially confirm the incident. However, residents of the area remain deeply concerned over the rising insecurity and demand swift justice.
“This is heartbreaking,” a neighbour told Badagry Today. “Jamiu was a peaceful young man trying to make a living. That such a thing could happen to him in broad daylight is frightening.”
The incident has reignited fears among residents about the safety of uncompleted buildings in isolated parts of Badagry, which locals say are increasingly being used for criminal activities.
Family members of the deceased have called on the authorities to intensify efforts to locate the fugitive and recover the remains of their loved one, so he can be given a proper burial.
Badagry Today will continue to follow this developing story and provide updates as new information emerges.
