In a renewed call to strengthen public trust and accountability, the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has urged citizens to report any cases of police misconduct or harassment they experience or witness. The Force emphasized that while efforts are ongoing to improve security and service delivery across the country, occasional tensions between officers and civilians may arise.
Acknowledging these challenges, the Police encouraged Nigerians not to stay silent in the face of injustice. Citizens are advised to promptly report such incidents through proper channels, beginning with a call to the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) or by contacting the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state where the incident occurred.
If complaints remain unresolved or unsatisfactory, individuals can escalate their concerns by reaching out directly to the Public Complaints Bureau at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. The dedicated hotline for this is 09169967000
In a message combining both official communication and relatable street-wise language, the Force reassured Nigerians that their safety remains the top priority.
"We are working day and night to make sure every Nigerian is safe and secure," the statement read. "But sometimes, misunderstandings or misconduct may happen. If the police harass you or you witness anything wrong, don’t keep quiet—speak out!"
The Police Force urged all Nigerians to play their part by reporting issues promptly, stressing that this collaborative approach is essential for building a more accountable and responsive policing system.
"Help us serve you better," the message concluded.
For more information or to report a case, call the CRU or contact the PPRO in your state. If needed, escalate to the Public Complaints Bureau at Force Headquarters via 09169967000
