JAMB Releases 2025 UTME Results: Over 75% of Candidates Score Below 200

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), revealing that more than 75% of candidates scored below 200.

According to the data published by JAMB on Monday, out of the 1,955,069 candidates who sat for the exam, only 420,415 scored above the 200 mark. Even more striking, less than 1% of candidates managed to score over 300.

In a statement accompanying the result breakdown, JAMB noted that 40,247 underage candidates were allowed to sit for the exam under a special provision to showcase their exceptional talent. However, only 467 of them — just 1.16% — met the board's threshold for exceptional ability. Their performance in three additional evaluation stages is still pending.

The board also reported 97 confirmed cases of exam misconduct, with another 2,157 candidates currently under investigation for alleged malpractices.

Additionally, 71,701 candidates failed to show up for the examination. Some of these absentees are being assessed for biometric issues, and those who are cleared will be rescheduled to take the exam at approved centres.

JAMB added that a few results, including those of blind candidates and others in the JEOG category, are still being processed.

A press conference is expected later this week, during which officials will provide further details and guide candidates on how to check their individual results.
