The race for the Chairmanship of Badagry Local Government took a significant turn as Hon. Hodewu Suuru Avoseh officially flagged off his campaign amidst overwhelming support, emerging as the adopted candidate of the powerful Sustainable Hope Agenda (SHA), a key political structure within the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The campaign launch, held in the heart of Badagry, was more than just a political gathering—it was a declaration of unity and shared purpose. SHA, formerly known as The Mandate Movement, announced its full endorsement of Avoseh, marking a major boost for his ambition ahead of the APC primary elections scheduled for May 10, 2025. Hon. Akin Ogunlana, SHA Coordinator in Badagry, made the official announcement, describing Avoseh as “the candidate of consolidation, capacity, and continuity.”

A massive crowd of APC stakeholders, party faithful, community leaders, and enthusiastic supporters thronged the venue, transforming the event into a political carnival. The Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Olanrewaju Ibrahim Layode—a respected grassroots mobilizer and four-time member of the Lagos State House of Assembly—graced the occasion and lent his voice to the growing support behind Avoseh.

Speaking passionately at the campaign launch, Hon. Avoseh declared his readiness to take over the mantle of leadership from Hon. Olusegun Onilude Adeniran, the incumbent Chairman of Badagry Local Government. He affirmed that a majority of political leaders in Badagry had thrown their weight behind him. He further expressed his commitment to using the experience he has gathered over the years to drive development across the local government for the benefit of all.

He outlined his priorities to include infrastructural development, healthcare, rural electrification, education, and youth and women empowerment—pillars he believes are essential to the progress of Badagry. He also promised to complete all projects not completed by his predecessors.

“I will complete all abandoned projects within the local government area,” Hon. HSA stated.

“I will prioritise rural electrification if elected as council chairman. With my experience and exposure, and having come from a rural area myself, I will focus on the development of rural communities.”

Recall Badagry Today had exclusively reported that five chairmanship aspirants stepped down in support of Avoseh, reinforcing his status as the frontrunner within the APC. Those who withdrew their ambitions include Hon. Akin Ogunlana, Hon. Julius Medeyonpon David, Hon. Abel Hunwi, Hon. Michael Fagbeji, and Barr. Semako Wande.

Speaking at the rally, Hon. Layode—who also leads the Independent Campaign Group (ICG) in Badagry—commended the aspirants for their statesmanship and called for continued peace and cooperation within the APC. He noted that the united front within SHA reflects the group’s commitment to delivering credible, people-oriented leadership to the people of Badagry.

“HS Avoseh’s candidacy is not just a personal aspiration—it is a collective project backed by structure, vision, and the will of the people,” Layode stated. “With the solidarity we’ve witnessed today, there is no doubt that the APC is presenting a formidable candidate capable of moving Badagry forward.”

Prominent political figures who also lend support to Avoseh at the occasion include Hon. Solomon Bonu Saanu, a leader of the ICC and member, Lagos State House of Assembly for Badagry Constituency II.

As the countdown to the APC primaries intensifies, Avoseh’s campaign continues to gain momentum—driven by a clear message of sustainable development, inclusive governance, and the overwhelming support of a united political movement.
