New BLG Chairman Hunpe Sets 100-Day Development Agenda with Infrastructure Tour Across Badagry

The new Executive Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Hunpe Adande Babatunde, has kicked off a 100-day development plan with a thorough inspection tour of key areas and public facilities across Badagry.

The tour, which continued on Wednesday, is part of his effort to understand the state of infrastructure firsthand and identify urgent needs across communities. Joined by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Taiwo Towolawi; Council Manager, Mrs. Olusanya Mary Abosede; and other key officials, the Chairman visited important government buildings like the Badagry City Hall, Boekoh Primary Health Centre, the Customary Court, and the Badagry Area Office.

Hon. Hunpe didn’t stop there. He and his team also inspected several roads and community junctions, including Avoseh Lane, Vetho-Gevie, Awhanjigoh Quarters Road, Mission Avenue, Dansu-Cinema-Hospital Road link, Cele Street beside Apostolic Church, Alhaja Suwebatu Kosiba Smith Street, and Bala/Asagoh Quarters Road, among others.

At each stop, he spoke with workers, examined building conditions, and noted areas that urgently need repairs or upgrades. He stressed the need to make government facilities more functional and provide a better working environment for local government staff.

One of the most pressing issues he observed was the poor condition of many inner-town roads. Hon. Hunpe described these roads as key to connecting the people of Badagry and boosting business and tourism.

“You can’t talk about real development when people are cut off by bad roads,” he said. “This administration will focus on linking our communities with good roads. That’s how we’ll boost trade, tourism, and bring government closer to the people.”

He also shared his broader vision for Badagry — one that focuses on lasting infrastructure that not only meets today’s needs but also protects Badagry’s cultural heritage and future as a top tourist destination.

Everywhere the Chairman visited, he was warmly welcomed by residents and local leaders. Many praised his active leadership style and said they are hopeful that this new energy in government will finally bring long-awaited progress to Badagry.
