Tinubu Approves Recruitment of 30,150 Personnel into Immigration, Fire Service, NSCDC

President Bola Tinubu has given the green light for the recruitment of 30,150 new personnel into four major paramilitary agencies, a move aimed at boosting internal security and improving public service delivery nationwide.

This directive was detailed in a letter dated June 3, 2025, from the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) to the Chairman of the Federal Character Commission. The letter, signed by CDCFIB Secretary, Major General AM Jibril (Rtd), confirmed the President’s approval of the large-scale recruitment drive.

Under the plan, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) will each welcome 10,000 new recruits. The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) will enlist 5,150 personnel, while 5,000 positions have been approved for the Federal Fire Service (FFS).

In addition, the CDCFIB Secretariat itself will be reinforced with 209 new staff.

To expedite the recruitment process, the board has requested a waiver to reduce the standard six-week public advertisement period to three weeks. This would allow for a quicker turnaround in filling the positions.

The communication also included a financial clearance from the Budget Office of the Federation, confirming that funds are already available to support the entire recruitment process.

This mass recruitment is one of the federal government’s most significant steps yet toward reinforcing critical public safety institutions and creating new job opportunities across the country.
