A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Badagry, Chief Pot-Balogun Sesi, popularly known as SELAN, has called on residents of Badagry Federal Constituency not to “wish away” what he described as the quality representation and growing experience of Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan at the National Assembly.
Chief Pot-Balogun, who is a leading APC figure in Badagry and the Badagry Federation Media and Publicity Director of Renewed Hope Ambassadors, a progressive group within the APC endorsed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, made the appeal during a message sent to Badagry Today.
He threw his weight behind the re-election bid of Hon. Whingan, the Member representing Badagry Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, who is seeking a second term after serving his first tenure in the National Assembly.
According to him, there is no justification for denying Hon. Whingan the opportunity of a second term when several former Executive Chairmen in Badagry were allowed to continue in office in order to build on their achievements.
“Why deny Hon. Whingan Sesi a second term at the National Assembly when past Executive Chairmen were given the same opportunity to build on their first-term achievements?” he asked.
Chief Pot-Balogun argued that meaningful development cannot be achieved if every political cycle begins from scratch, stressing that continuity and consolidation remain essential to the growth of Badagry.
“Progress is not achieved by starting afresh every time. It is sustained by continuity, experience and consolidation. Hon. Sesi has gained valuable legislative exposure, built strategic relationships and laid foundations that require time to fully mature for the benefit of Badagry,” he said.
The APC chieftain maintained that Hon. Whingan’s first term has positioned him to better attract opportunities and deepen his impact across the constituency, adding that the lawmaker now possesses the experience and connections necessary to deliver more for the people.
He therefore urged constituents to place competence and consistency above political sentiments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“If the true development of Badagry matters to us all, then we must prioritize competence, consistency and continuity. Let us support the completion of ongoing efforts and allow the dividends of experience to translate into greater impact for our people,” he stated.
Chief Pot-Balogun concluded his appeal by urging the people of Badagry Federal Constituency to rally behind Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan’s second term ambition.
“Let us complement experience. Let us move Badagry forward. Support Hon. Whingan Sesi for a second term,” he added.
