Tosin Whingan Secures LAWMA Partnership to Boost Clean-Up Badagry Initiative

The Clean-Up Badagry Initiative, a community-driven environmental campaign led by Mrs. Tosin Whingan, wife of Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, Member representing Badagry Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, has secured a major partnership with the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).

The breakthrough partnership, announced on Friday, October 3, 2025, is aimed at tackling the growing waste management challenges in Badagry while promoting waste-to-wealth solutions that will benefit residents.

According to a communique issued by the organization on X (formerly Twitter), Mrs. Whingan and members of the initiative’s management board met with LAWMA’s Executive Director and senior officials, including representatives from the Managing Director’s Office and the Advocacy Unit.

The strategic meeting created an avenue to present pressing environmental concerns and to explore stronger collaborations with LAWMA. Discussions centered on improving waste evacuation, enhancing recycling practices, and deepening community sensitization on environmental responsibility.

LAWMA’s leadership expressed full commitment to the partnership, pledging technical support, joint awareness campaigns, and operational backing for local clean-up interventions. A joint LAWMA–Badagry working group will also be established to coordinate agreed action plans and ensure smooth implementation.

Speaking after the meeting, Mrs. Tosin Whingan commended LAWMA’s openness and commitment, describing the collaboration as a “new step in our collective mission to make Badagry cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable for everyone.”

She reaffirmed that the Clean-Up Badagry Initiative remains dedicated to mobilizing community support and strengthening advocacy, adding that the partnership will open new opportunities for recycling and innovative waste-to-wealth programs.

With this development, Badagry is set to witness renewed efforts in tackling environmental challenges, turning waste into economic value, and building a sustainable future for the historic coastal town.
