Six Killed in Fresh Attack on Plateau Community

Gunmen struck again in Plateau State on Sunday night, killing at least six people in Ikn’gwakap, the headquarters of Mushere Chiefdom in Bokkos Local Government Area.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers invaded the community around midnight, shooting indiscriminately and setting several houses ablaze.

The National Publicity Secretary of the Mushere Youth Movement, Kutyil Gashion Nahum, confirmed the incident in a statement. According to him, six innocent people, including women and children, were murdered in their sleep, while several others remain unaccounted for, leaving families gripped with fear and trauma.

He condemned the repeated attacks on Mushere communities, lamenting that no single perpetrator has been arrested or brought to justice. He stressed that the continued inaction of security agencies only emboldens the killers to strike again.

“The situation is alarming and unacceptable. There’s an urgent need for a complete overhaul of the security structure in the area,” the statement read.

The group called on government at all levels to take decisive steps in protecting lives and property, warning that the blood of innocent citizens must not continue to be shed in vain.

They also urged residents of Mushere and Bokkos to remain vigilant, united, and proactive in safeguarding their communities, even as they continue to demand justice and lasting peace.
