Accolades as BLG Councillor, Pedekun Mathew Visits 17 CDAs to Keep Abreast of Challenges in His Ward

It was commendation galore as the Deputy Leader of the 8th Legislative Council of Badagry Local Government, Hon. Pedekun Gbetoyon Mathew, embarked on an extensive tour of 17 Community Development Associations (CDAs) in Ward E to better understand the challenges facing residents at the grassroots.

The exercise, which began on September 1, 2025, was part of Mathew’s campaign promise to bring governance closer to the people and ensure that community concerns are adequately represented. Accompanied by ward coordinators and executives, the councillor was warmly received by CDA leaders, Baales, and other community stakeholders across the ward.

Speaking during the visits, the Chairman of Tozunkanmeh CDA, on behalf of other community leaders, lauded the initiative, describing it as one of the most impactful moves by a councillor in the political history of Ward E. He emphasized that such leadership demonstrates the importance of electing the right people into public office and urged Mathew to remain steadfast in his commitment to service.

Top among the issues raised by the CDAs were the deplorable state of roads that require grading, the need for solar-powered street lighting, installation of transformers, clearing of blocked drainage channels, provision of water reservoirs, and support for young people through the distribution of GCE and JAMB forms.

In his response, Hon. Mathew thanked the communities for their warm reception and for articulating their concerns. He assured them that all issues raised had been noted and would be forwarded to the appropriate authorities for urgent attention. He also appealed for continued cooperation with the present administration, stressing that the government is working hard to restore renewed hope despite prevailing economic challenges.

The tour covered several communities, including Ajara Vetho, Homesogbe Vetho, Agbojetho Vetho, Modoten/Afoyonde, Ajara Lopo, Unity Estate Afoyonde, Agamathen, Hejinanwa, Hunwi Junction, Tozunkanmeh, Yasha-Zogbo, Gbeta Baptist Church Camp, Agakoh, Tovameh, Agelasho, Wanyinna, and Vethozunmeh Sosoemeh CDAs.

The successful tour has further strengthened Mathew’s rapport with his constituents, earning him accolades as a councillor committed to listening and responding to the grassroots.
