The death of a young Victor Aggrey, a father of two, has sent shockwaves through the Badagry community amid swirling allegations, conflicting accounts, and growing calls for a thorough police investigation.
Source who does not want to be named said Aggrey, who lived in the Magbon area of Olorunda LCDA, Badagry, had been separated from his wife, Jennifer, for several months. The couple, parents to a young boy and girl, had seen their marriage collapse earlier this year, with Jennifer moving in with her cousin in Seje, Ajara in Badagry. Our source says Victor had been struggling emotionally and financially since the separation and was desperate to reconcile.
On Friday night, tragedy struck at Jennifer’s residence — but how exactly Victor died is now at the heart of a troubling mystery.
According to one account, the couple got into a heated altercation. Victor allegedly stabbed Jennifer, believing he had killed her, and then drank the deadly pesticide, Sniper, in despair. Another version claims Jennifer survived the stabbing, fled for treatment, and returned later to find Victor lifeless, a Sniper bottle nearby.
Jennifer herself reportedly told said that she woke at 10 p.m. to pray, fell back asleep, and awoke to find Victor attacking her. She said she escaped, and by the time she returned, Victor was gone — only for his lifeless body to be discovered soon after.
But community voices, led by social critic and Badagry prince, Jide Akran, are questioning the plausibility of these narratives.
“These stories crumble under scrutiny,” Akran said in a viral social media post. “Victor’s body tells a darker story — the marks don’t match suicide. Watch the video closely; his face alone tells you something sinister happened. This doesn’t look like suicide; it screams murder in my honest opinion.”
Akran, who knew the family personally, described Victor as “a devoted family man” and “younger brother to the former secretary of Oba Akran’s palace.” He stressed that too many inconsistencies point to possible foul play.
“We can’t bring Victor back, but we can fight for justice,” Akran continued. “The Aggrey family deserves the truth. His children deserve answers, not whispers and shadows.”
The Badagry community has now joined calls for a transparent and exhaustive police probe to determine whether Victor’s death was indeed suicide or something more sinister. As the investigation unfolds, one thing is clear — until the truth emerges, Victor Aggrey’s death will remain a haunting question mark in the heart of Badagry.
