In strict compliance with the directive of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Executive Chairman of Olorunda LCDA, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, has appointed Hon. Akinyele Cornelius Olabisi as his new Chief of Staff.
The announcement was made on Monday, August 4, 2025, as part of efforts to strengthen the council’s leadership team and improve grassroots governance.
Hon. Akinyele, who is 43 years old and a native of Igbanko community, is well-known across Badagry for his leadership and community service. He was one of the strong contenders for the chairmanship position in the last local government election under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to a statement from Hon. Kumayon’s media team, Akinyele’s appointment is part of the Chairman’s plan to build a competent and people-focused team that will help drive development in Olorunda.
The new Chief of Staff holds both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Lagos State University. He is a certified Chartered Administrator and a proud alumnus of Iworo/Ajido Model College.
Over the years, Akinyele has held various leadership roles. He once served as Zonal Secretary of the party, led the Olorunda Students Association as its first Chairman, and also served as President of the National Association of Badagry Students (NABAS), where he led several youth empowerment initiatives.
He is also the founder and leader of the "CORNEL Political Family," a grassroots political movement with followers spread across Olorunda LCDA.
Speaking on the appointment, the Chairman’s media team described it as a strategic move to ensure better coordination in the Chairman’s office and stronger connections between government and the people.
As Chief of Staff, Hon. Akinyele will work directly with the Chairman to coordinate day-to-day administration, engage with stakeholders, and help implement policies that benefit the entire Olorunda community.
This appointment is seen as another bold step by Hon. Kumayon in building a transparent, responsive, and impactful local government that truly serves the people.
Congratulations to Hon. Akinyele Cornelius Olabisi on this new chapter of service.
