The Vice Chairmen of all Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State have chosen a new team to lead their association for the next four years.
At their very first meeting held on Thursday, the Lagos State Association of Vice Chairmen elected new executives to steer the affairs of the group. According to a statement released on Friday, this move is part of efforts to unite the Vice Chairmen across the state and make their work more effective in supporting grassroots development.
One of the highlights of the election was the emergence of Abduganiu Obasa, son of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the association. His role will be to speak on behalf of the group and manage its public image.
Also making the list is Nutayi Funmi, Vice Chairman of Badagry West LCDA, who was selected as one of the Ex-Officio members of the executive team — representing Badagry and giving the community a voice in the newly formed leadership.
Oluwatoyin Akerele, Vice Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye LG, was elected as Chairman of the association, while Muizz Dosunmu from Surulere LG will serve as Vice Chairman.
Other elected officials include:
-
Kabir Kareem (Ijede LCDA) – General Secretary
-
Murisiq Badru (Eti-Osa LG) – Assistant Secretary
-
Mathew Olaleye (Coker-Aguda LCDA) – Legal Officer
-
Adebisi Francis (Alimosho LG) – Welfare Officer
-
Islamiyyat Aregbe (Oshodi-Isolo LG) – Financial Secretary
-
Oluwole Sosanya (Kosofe LG) – Treasurer
The three senatorial zones also got their zonal reps:
-
Shakir Sadiq (Isolo LCDA – Lagos West)
-
Oluremi Alogba (Lekki LCDA – Lagos East)
-
Ganiu Ismail (Apapa LG – Lagos Central)
In addition, Wasiu Dehinsilu from Ikosi-Ejirin LCDA was named Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
Others who joined the Ex-Officio list alongside Nutayi Funmi are Adesegun Aluko (Ikorodu West LCDA), Moshood Momoh (Lagos Mainland LG), and Ashara Maureen (Amuwo-Odofin LG).
The association says this leadership team will focus on stronger collaboration among councils, community development, and ensuring local governments meet the expectations of Lagosians.
