A former chairmanship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Olorunda Local Council Development Area of Badagry, Lagos State, Ogbeni Olaguro Qudus, has announced his resignation from the party, citing unresolved leadership crises and a deviation from the ideals of its founding fathers.
In a copy of the formal letter sent to Badagry Today, dated August 5, 2025, and addressed to party members in his ward, Qudus expressed gratitude to colleagues and the PDP at large but noted that recent developments had made his continued membership untenable.
“It is on record that over the years, I have remained a firm and patriotic member of the party, even when all hope seemed lost,” he wrote. “Nevertheless, recent unfolding events, ranging from leadership crises to a lack of disciplinary measures and other germane factors, have derailed the party from the dictates of its founding fathers.”
Qudus was the PDP chairmanship candidate for Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in the 2021 local government elections. He revealed that his decision followed extensive consultations with family, friends, and political associates.
“With immediate effect from this day, August 5, 2025, I hereby resign my membership of the PDP,” he declared, adding a note of appreciation to party members for their support over the years.
Qudus did not indicate his next political move, leaving speculation open about whether he will join another party ahead of the next election cycle.
