2027: ADC Woos Nigerian Youths with 5 Key Party's NWC Appointments

In a bold move ahead of the 2027 presidential election, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), operating under the broader Coalition, has appointed five young Nigerians into its National Working Committee (NWC), signaling a strong commitment to youth inclusion in national leadership.

The appointments were announced as part of ADC's strategic push to win the hearts of Nigeria's youth, who make up a significant percentage of the country’s population and voting strength.

Among those appointed are:

  • Bilyaminu Duhu – Assistant National Youth Leader (North East)

  • Jackie Wayas – Deputy National Publicity Secretary

  • Hassana Dada – Assistant National Youth Leader (North Central)

  • David Itopa – Deputy National Welfare Secretary

  • Hauwa Yusuf – Deputy National Secretary

These young leaders are now official members of the party’s decision-making body — a move that has sparked discussions nationwide about the rising role of youth in Nigeria’s political future.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, one of the coalition’s top leaders, praised the appointments in a post on his official Facebook page. He wrote:

“Congratulations to the vibrant young members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC)... on their well-deserved appointments to the party’s National Working Committee.
The ADC is no longer just speaking about youth inclusion; it is now boldly demonstrating it in action.
Indeed, the future of our youth must not be shaped in their absence... This is what true leadership looks like — not just talking the talk, but walking it with purpose.”

Atiku, alongside other high-profile leaders such as former Senate President David Mark, former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, and ex-Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has vowed to rally the ADC and other coalition parties to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

Political watchers say this latest development is a strong message to young Nigerians that the ADC is ready to hand them real responsibilities — not just campaign roles or slogans. With youth unemployment, insecurity, and economic hardship topping the national debate, many see this as a timely and strategic step.

The ADC’s move also reflects growing public demand for political parties to stop sidelining the youth and start empowering them through real positions of influence.

As 2027 draws closer, the party says this is only the beginning of its youth-focused agenda. More appointments are expected in the coming months as part of a broader restructuring process.

For now, the ADC has succeeded in sparking national interest — not only for its electoral ambitions, but for giving the youth a seat at the table where Nigeria’s future will be decided.
