A Nigerian nurse, Abdulazeez Moruph Abisoye, has taken to social media to pen a heartfelt tribute to former President Muhammadu Buhari, crediting the late leader’s social investment initiative for saving his life at a time of extreme hardship.
In an emotional post shared on Facebook, Abisoye, now a registered nurse living in the United Kingdom, recounted how Buhari’s N-Power programme provided him with a lifeline during what he described as the lowest point of his life.
“By the time I write my autobiography, it will never be complete without mentioning the name Muhammadu Buhari,” he began.
According to Abisoye, he was once homeless and struggling to survive, with no clear path forward. Then came the opportunity to join N-Power, a federal government employment initiative launched under Buhari’s administration to empower young Nigerians.
“Our salary was ₦30,000 monthly. I usually spent ₦10,000 on food and saved ₦20,000 towards my nursing school fees,” he recalled. “I owe part of my nursing college education to President Buhari. He approved the initiative that rescued my life.”
Now working as a nurse in England, Abisoye says he cannot attend Buhari’s funeral due to work commitments but offered his respect and prayers from afar.
“If good deeds count as blessings for the dead, dear God, please let this be my account of him,” he wrote. “He had a positive impact on my existence till today.”
He added, “He was my angel on earth at the lowest point of my life — a son of no man from Offa, Kwara State.”
In closing, he offered a prayer for the late president’s family: “May every child of Baba Buhari not lack anything good on earth.”
Abdulazeez’s tribute has since touched many online, offering a personal and powerful reminder of the human impact of government policies — and the silent transformations that often go untold.
