A group of exceptional young leaders from Lagos State have completed a life-changing international study tour to Canada, thanks to the efforts of the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende.
The week-long tour, which brought together IBILE Youth Ambassadors from across the state—including Ambassador Ajande Pascal Viweavo, who represented Badagry—came to a memorable close on Friday, July 18, 2025, with a graduation ceremony at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.
Sharing the highlights on his official Facebook page, Hon. Ogunlende described the programme as a rich blend of academic excellence, leadership development, and cross-cultural exchange designed to prepare Lagos youths for global leadership.
“This ceremony crowned a rich experience that blended advanced academic exposure, leadership development, and cross-cultural engagement,” Ogunlende wrote.
Before arriving in Canada, the participants had completed a three-month online entrepreneurship course offered by Queen’s University, earning four internationally recognized micro-credentials. These covered vital areas of business innovation, leadership, and community impact.
While in Canada, the youths took part in intensive in-person workshops, building on their online learning to sharpen their critical thinking, leadership capacity, and practical skills. The sessions were curated to empower them for real-world problem-solving and inspire them to drive positive change in their communities back home.
The graduation ceremony was not only a celebration of academic achievement but also a reaffirmation of Lagos State’s commitment to youth development and global exposure.
"This initiative is about raising a new generation of leaders—equipped with clarity, purpose, and global insight—to transform our society," Ogunlende emphasized.
The Canada study tour has been widely praised as a visionary step by the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, reinforcing the state government’s commitment to nurturing future-ready youth.
As the participants return to Nigeria, they carry with them not only certificates but also renewed confidence, a deeper global perspective, and a shared determination to be agents of change in Lagos and beyond.
