Lagos APC Announces Campaign Flag Off for LG Elections, Unveils Candidates Across 57 Councils

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State is set to kick off its campaign for the July 12 local government elections on Tuesday, June 18, with a formal presentation of party flags to its candidates.

In a statement issued on Saturday, APC Publicity Secretary, Mr. Seye Oladejo, said the official flag-off ceremony will take place at the party’s state secretariat in Ogba and will feature the unveiling of Chairmanship, Vice Chairmanship, and Councillorship candidates across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).

Oladejo explained that the campaign has been strategically decentralised across the three senatorial districts—Lagos East, Central, and West—with the latter divided into two zones due to its large size. This structure, he noted, will help ensure a more targeted and efficient campaign.

“The flag-off will be witnessed by party leaders, elected officials, and political appointees across all levels of government,” he said. “We’ve also mandated the formation of Local Organising Committees (LOCs) in each council to drive grassroots mobilisation and ensure the APC’s message reaches every nook and cranny of the state.”

According to Oladejo, the campaign will spotlight the achievements of the outgoing administrations in the councils, highlight impactful social intervention programmes, and share the APC’s renewed vision for better service delivery at the grassroots level.

He urged residents to turn out en masse to perform their civic duty during the elections.

“The campaign will run until the day before the election, in line with electoral guidelines,” Oladejo added.

It will be recalled that the party’s candidates for Chairmanship, Vice Chairmanship, and Councillorship positions in all 377 wards emerged from the APC primaries held on May 10.
