2027: Atiku El-Rufai Floated New Party, ADA

A coalition of opposition leaders led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai has formally applied to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to register a new political party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The proposed party, named the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), is seeking official recognition as a political platform that, according to its promoters, aims to offer Nigerians a fresh alternative guided by the principle of “Justice for All.”

The application, dated June 19, was addressed to the INEC Chairman and co-signed by Akin Ricketts, the national chairman of ADA, and Abdullahi Musa Elayo, the protem national secretary. An acknowledgment copy of the letter, according to TheCable, confirms it was received by INEC on June 20.

Titled “Application for Registration as a Political Party,” the letter stated:

“We respectfully write to the Independent National Electoral Commission requesting the registration of our association, the All Democratic Alliance, as a political party.”

The group explained that its application follows a resolution by the Nigerian National Coalition Group to formally sponsor the ADA for registration.

The letter further stated that ADA will use “Justice for All” as its official slogan, adding that the party’s manifesto and constitution—outlining its core ideology, legal framework, and organisational structure—were included as part of the application package.

The move signals growing momentum among opposition forces to regroup and reposition themselves for the 2027 elections, potentially reshaping Nigeria’s political landscape in the coming years.
