Member of the House of Representatives for Badagry Federal Constituency, Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, has congratulated Hon. Babatunde Hunpe on his victory in the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship primary election for Badagry Local Government.

Badagry Today has exclusively learned that Rep. Whingan placed a personal call to Hunpe shortly after the APC election committee declared him the winner of the keenly contested primary.

According to official results, Hunpe secured 16 votes, defeating his closest rival, Hon. Avoseh Hodewu Suru, to clinch the party’s ticket.

Despite backing his senior aide, Hon. Hassan Mihode Hammed, in the race, Rep. Whingan displayed commendable political maturity and sportsmanship by promptly congratulating Hunpe on his victory.

The lawmaker’s gesture has been widely viewed as a sign of unity within the APC family in Badagry, as stakeholders begin to shift focus toward the general local government elections.

Hon. Babatunde Hunpe, a former member of the House of Representatives and Whingan’s predecessor, is now set to fly the party’s flag in the upcoming chairmanship election.

As the political atmosphere in Badagry continues to heat up, Whingan’s show of statesmanship may go a long way in strengthening party cohesion and setting the tone for a united front ahead of the polls.
