A 27-year-old accountant, Oke Peter, has been dragged before the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over allegations of defrauding his employer of ₦4.5 million.
Peter was arraigned on Friday, September 12, 2025, before Chief Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni on a one-count charge of stealing. He, however, pleaded not guilty, report obtained from Citymood Badagry says
According to the prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo, the alleged offence took place on September 5 at Mega Mart Mall Limited in the Mowo area of Badagry. Ekpo told the court that the defendant allegedly diverted ₦4.5 million from the company’s sales proceeds, which belonged to the complainant, Mr. David Uniugbe.
“The complainant reported the matter to the police, leading to the defendant’s arrest,” the prosecutor said, adding that the offence contravened Section 287 (7) of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
The case has been adjourned until October 10, 2025, for mention.
