Grassroots Capture: Gov. Abiodun Appoints 1200 Aides, Five from Each of Ogun’s 236 Wards

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has appointed 1,200 political assistants, five from each of the state’s 236 wards, in a move aimed at deepening democratic participation and strengthening grassroots engagement.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, the governor described the initiative as a deliberate step to bring governance closer to the people and ensure that every community has a direct voice in the affairs of the state.

According to Akinmade, the newly appointed assistants will serve as a bridge between the government and the grassroots, relaying the needs of their communities to the state government while also communicating government policies and programs back to the people.

“The political assistants are expected to help deliver the dividends of democracy, articulate the priorities of their wards, and provide accurate feedback to aid government decision-making,” Akinmade stated.

He added that the appointments are a fulfilment of Governor Abiodun’s electoral promise to carry every ward along in his administration’s development plans, stressing that the initiative reflects the governor’s commitment to an inclusive government that values the people’s input.

The state government urged the appointees to take their roles seriously and contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of their wards, local governments, and Ogun State as a whole.
