The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released fresh figures showing that over 1.3 million Nigerians have already taken part in the online phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) within just one week.
According to the CVR State Pre-Registration Report covering August 18 to 24, 2025, a total of 1,379,342 Nigerians completed their online pre-registration, marking a strong start to the exercise.
Lagos State topped the chart with 222,205 pre-registrations, representing 16.11% of the national total. However, Osun State recorded the single largest share by percentage with 393,269 registrations, accounting for 28.51%. Ogun State followed closely with 132,823 entries (9.63%), while the Federal Capital Territory registered 107,682 (7.81%).
Other states with significant figures include Oyo (66,951), Kaduna (61,592), Kogi (58,546), Kwara (33,726), and Kebbi (35,009). In the South-South, Delta led with 24,421 registrations, while Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Bayelsa, Edo, and Ondo recorded much lower numbers.
The North East region also showed strong participation, with Borno leading at 21,045, followed by Bauchi (13,066) and Yobe (34,888). In the North West, Kaduna and Kebbi stood out, while Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Sokoto, and Zamfara recorded modest turnouts.
The South East had the lowest participation. Ebonyi recorded only 261 registrations, the lowest in the country, with Enugu (484) and Imo (481) also recording poor figures.
Meanwhile, INEC has announced that the physical phase of registration has officially begun nationwide, allowing both new applicants and those who pre-registered online to complete the process at designated centres where their biometrics will be captured.
The commission explained that the ongoing CVR also covers transfers of voter registration, replacement of lost or damaged voter cards, and updates of personal information. Registration will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Mondays to Fridays, across 811 centres nationwide, including all 774 Local Government Area offices.
INEC further assured that special arrangements are in place to ensure accessibility for persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
Nigerians can also visit the official portal, www.cvr.inecnigeria.org, to pre-register, check their PVC status, locate centres, transfer information, or request card replacements.
