Lagos State is set to host the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, as she makes her first official visit to the Centre of Excellence since assuming office.
According to the Lagos State Government, Mrs. Tinubu will arrive in the state today for a series of empowerment and development initiatives aimed at improving the lives of women and advancing industrial growth.
On Saturday, the First Lady will present empowerment items to no fewer than 1,000 women at the State House, Alausa, Ikeja. The gesture, government officials say, reflects her strong commitment to uplifting vulnerable groups and promoting inclusive economic opportunities for women.
As part of her visit, Senator Tinubu will also commission the Lagos Industrial Leather Hub in Matori, Mushin, which has been described as the biggest in West Africa. The hub is expected to boost the state’s leather industry, create jobs, and position Lagos as a leading center for industrial innovation.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, urged Lagosians to extend a warm reception to the First Lady.
“We are proud of her initiatives, which will surely bring smiles to the faces of the vulnerable among us. This visit underscores Her Excellency’s unwavering dedication to the promotion of national unity, advancement of women and children, and strengthening of social welfare initiatives—all of which align with the State Government’s commitment to inclusive governance and sustainable development,” the Governor said.
The visit is seen as both symbolic and impactful, highlighting Mrs. Tinubu’s resolve to make a difference in the lives of Nigerian women while reinforcing Lagos’ role as a hub for national progress.
