EFCC Arrests 120 Suspected Yahoo Boys in Massive Lagos Raid

In a sweeping crackdown on cybercrime, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday arrested 120 suspected internet fraudsters during coordinated operations across Lagos.

The operation, carried out by operatives from the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the EFCC, followed weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance. Among those apprehended were 95 men and 25 women, all suspected to be involved in various forms of internet-related fraud.

According to a statement from the commission, the arrests were made in multiple locations within the city after investigators tracked down individuals believed to be running elaborate online scams.

During the raid, the EFCC recovered a cache of luxury items including 26 exotic cars, high-end jewelry, dozens of smartphones, laptops, and several incriminating documents.

“The suspects are currently in custody and are undergoing further investigation,” the EFCC said. “They will be charged to court as soon as the investigations are concluded.”

The commission emphasized its ongoing commitment to tackling cybercrime and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious online activities. Monday’s raid marks one of the largest single-day internet fraud operations in Lagos this year.

The arrests come amid rising concern over the growing wave of online scams in Nigeria, with law enforcement agencies under pressure to stem the tide and restore public confidence in digital platforms.
