Ajose Peter Kumayon inspects road construction at Mowo in Olorunda LCDA

Hope came alive for residents of Mowo and Age-Mowo on Tuesday as the Executive Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, inspected the ongoing reconstruction of the first phase of the long-abandoned Mowo–Age-Mowo Road.

For more than 30 years, residents of the communities have battled with the deplorable state of the road, enduring difficult movement, damaged vehicles and hardship, especially during the rainy season. But that narrative appears set to change as work progresses on the first 600 metres of the road.

Ajose, who visited the construction site alongside the Council Manager, Alhaji Moruf Adesanya, and the Council Engineer, Engr. Mrs. Bolarinwa Salma, expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work being carried out by the contractor.

Addressing residents and officials during the inspection, the chairman said he deliberately came to the site to personally verify the quality of the project and ensure that the people get the best value.

He described the reconstruction as a major intervention that would finally bring relief to residents who have waited decades for the road to receive attention.

"This road has been in a terrible state for over 30 years and our people have suffered for too long. I came here to see the work for myself and I am satisfied with what I have seen. The quality is impressive and this project will bring lasting relief to the people of Mowo and Age-Mowo," Ajose said.

The chairman explained that the ongoing 600-metre stretch is only the first phase of the project, adding that his administration is determined to continue the reconstruction in phases until the entire road linking Mowo to Age-Mowo is completed.

According to him, completing the road will not only ease movement within the communities but also boost economic activities, improve transportation and open up the area for greater development.

Ajose commended the contractor handling the project for maintaining high standards and keeping to schedule, assuring residents that his administration would continue to monitor the work closely.

The Council Manager, Alhaji Moruf Adesanya, also praised the chairman for taking bold steps to tackle a problem previous administrations had left unresolved for decades.

He said the reconstruction of the road stands as another clear sign of the administration’s commitment to delivering meaningful projects that directly impact the lives of the people.

Adesanya further called on residents to continue supporting Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, the All Progressives Congress and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he said created the atmosphere that made the project possible.

Also speaking, the Council Engineer, Engr. Mrs. Bolarinwa Salma, expressed satisfaction with the standard of the work, noting that the contractor is adhering strictly to specifications.

Many residents who witnessed the inspection could not hide their excitement, saying they are hopeful that, for the first time in decades, the road that has long been a symbol of neglect will soon become a source of pride for the communities.
