Lagos Assembly Deputy. Chief Whip to Empower Over 1,000 Indigents, Artisans, and Petty Traders in Mega Badagry Empowerment Program

The Deputy Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly and Member representing Badagry Constituency II, Hon. (Engr.) Setonji David, is set to roll out one of the biggest empowerment initiatives ever witnessed in Badagry.

The mega empowerment program, billed for Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Nigeria French Language Village, Ajara, Badagry, will directly impact over 1,000 beneficiaries, including indigent youths, artisans, and petty traders across all wards and zones of the constituency.

According to his media officer, Mr. Possu Davies, the beneficiaries were carefully selected to ensure that the support reaches those who need it most—particularly apolitical individuals who have been struggling to survive the harsh economic realities.

The empowerment packages will include work tools such as sewing machines, hairstyling and barbing kits, deep freezers, refrigerators, and other essential trade equipment. In addition to these, many beneficiaries will also receive cash and small business support grants to help them stabilize and grow their ventures.

Speaking on the motivation behind the initiative, Davies explained that Hon. Setonji David’s primary concern is to lift vulnerable people in his constituency out of poverty while cushioning the impact of the prevailing economic challenges. He emphasized that the program aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which focuses on empowering citizens to become self-reliant.

“This empowerment is not about politics,” Davies stressed. “It is about helping ordinary people—youths who cannot afford the tools for their trades, artisans who need support to expand their work, and petty traders who are struggling to sustain their families. Hon. Setonji believes this is one of the most effective ways to reduce poverty and restore dignity to the hardworking people of Badagry.”
