LASCOHET Disclaims Cybercafé Operator Over ₦1.5m Admission Fraud

The Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET) has distanced itself from the fraudulent activities of a cybercafé operator, Mr. Kehinde Micheal Arapatile, who allegedly duped an admission seeker of ₦1.5 million under the guise of securing her a place in the institution.

Provost of the College, Professor Raheem Olasupo Akewushola, while addressing the matter, described the act as criminal and unacceptable, stressing that LASCOHET has zero tolerance for fraud and any form of misconduct.

According to the petition submitted to the College, the applicant, who had sought admission to study Health Assistant, alleged that Arapatile collected an initial ₦500,000 with a promise to process her admission. When the admission did not materialize, Arapatile reportedly assured her that she need not attend classes, insisting he could still arrange a certificate for her.

Dissatisfied and alarmed by the proposal, the applicant demanded a refund. Instead, Arapatile allegedly threatened her into silence, a move that prompted her formal complaint to the Provost.

During interrogation by the LASCOHET management, Arapatile admitted to the allegations but claimed the payment was not for admission into LASCOHET, rather for another professional body he vaguely referred to as “CIMB.” He, however, failed to provide any credible explanation or the full meaning of the acronym.

Professor Akewushola revealed that stamp pads of different institutions were recovered from Arapatile’s cybercafé, adding that investigations were still ongoing.

He further warned the public to beware of impostors parading as LASCOHET agents, emphasizing that Arapatile is neither a staff member nor has any official link to the institution.

“Anyone who transacts business with him does so entirely at his or her own risk,” the Provost stated.
