Access to Quality Healthcare: MWAN-Mobihealth, Others Set for 3-Day Free Medical and Surgical Outreach in Badagry

Badagry is set to witness a major boost in healthcare delivery as the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Lagos State Branch, in partnership with Mobihealth International, the Lagos State Baptist Health Fellowship, and ProHealth International, rolls out a 3-day free medical and surgical outreach aimed at improving access to quality healthcare for residents of underserved communities.

The telemedicine outreach is a dream come true following a meeting between Badagry-born filmmaker and producer, Mr. Viyon, and Dr. Funmi Adewara, Founder and CEO of Mobihealth International, whose telehealth platform will play a vital role in ensuring follow-up care and remote consultations for patients even beyond the outreach.

The outreach, themed “Touching Lives, Restoring Hope,” will run from Thursday, August 21 to Saturday, August 23, 2025, across four strategic locations in Badagry:

  • Badagry Grammar School

  • Our Lady Catholic Hospital, Ibereko

  • Great Physician Hospital

  • Harmony Hospital

The initiative will provide a wide range of free medical and surgical services, including:

  • Screenings & Treatments: Hypertension, diabetes, breast and cervical cancer, dental care.

  • Eye Care: Cataract surgeries, fundoscopy, and other specialist treatments.

  • Surgical Procedures: Breast lump excision, hernia repairs, lipoma excision, myomectomy, among others.

  • General Consultations & Counseling: Covering diverse medical conditions.

  • Welfare Support: Distribution of food, clothing, and household essentials for vulnerable families.

A unique feature of the outreach is Mobihealth’s telemedicine platform, which will ensure that patients continue to receive follow-up care through remote consultations long after the program. This innovation will bridge healthcare gaps in communities like Badagry, where access to quality care is often limited.

Speaking on the essence of the program, Dr. Ige of MWAN Lagos stressed that the initiative goes beyond medicine:

“Our theme, ‘Touching Lives, Restoring Hope,’ reflects the spirit of this mission. We want to restore dignity, comfort, and hope to the people of Badagry.”

Dr. Atinuke Ajoloko, Secretary of MWAN Lagos, underscored the power of collaboration:

“This partnership shows what is possible when organizations unite to address grassroots health challenges. Together, we are breaking barriers to quality healthcare.”

Adding her voice, Dr. Bolanle Adelakun noted:

“This program is about compassion as much as it is about treatment. It ensures that no one is left behind in accessing quality healthcare.”

Thousands of residents are expected to benefit from the outreach, and organizers are calling on the public to take advantage of the services by visiting any of the four designated venues.

For inquiries, residents may contact:

  • Dr. Atinuke Ajoloko – 0816 071 2030

  • Dr. Bolanle Adelakun – 0803 312 4435

With this initiative, MWAN Lagos and its partners reaffirm their commitment to providing affordable, quality, and innovative healthcare, while ensuring that the people of Badagry not only receive treatment but also regain hope and dignity.
